You Don't Need Labiaplasty

This is the video that got Self Serve kicked off facebook! Watch and share widely, please! The human body should not be censored.

All labias are beautiful, and you don't need cosmetic surgery. After a video on labiaplasty made thousands of views on youtube, we at
Self Serve felt the need to respond.

Vaginoplasty and labiaplasty are sweeping the world. Doctors are making easy money through women's self loathing and ignorance. We need more images of diverse, normal labias and vulvas- not a surgical solution to an imaginary problem. In case you didn't know, there is a whole movement to change the growing medicalization of women's bodies and sexual desire. A sassy, smart and sexy organization called The New View Campaign is encouraging change. They have a whole area of their site dedicated to resources on
female genital cosmetic surgery (FGCS).

In 2007 the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) issued a statement saying that most FGCS procedures are not medically indicated, were ethically questionable, and were not standardized, routine or acceptable. The statement concluded, "Women should be informed about the lack of data supporting the efficacy of these procedures and their potential complications, including infection, altered sensation, dyspareunia, adhesions, and scarring." For entire statement see: Vaginal “rejuvenation” and cosmetic vaginal procedures. ACOG Committee Opinion No. 378. Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2007, v.110, p.737–8.

Fight the good fight sisters! It sure does say something about how far we have to go, that your efforts keep getting censored...

Here's an article in Psychology Today about this video and the facebook debacle: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/women-who-stray/201007/cutting-your-vagina-spite-your-facebook

Also, Violet Blue also had one of her communities deleted and CarnalNation wrote a piece on that: http://carnalnation.com/content/58197/957/facebook-censors-female-sexual-desire

I suggest before a woman heads off for surgery I suggest she perform what I call the "Vagina Salute” at least once. The Vagina Salute is a little act that I like to perform to remind myself of the Glory and undeniable Beauty of my Vagina. To perform the Vagina Salute you need a man, 2 pillows and I like to incorporate high heels. (The heels make me feel a bit sassy and help get your nerve up the first time around.) I like to take a shower, rub myself all over with my favorite lotions, and make myself my most beautiful. I then proceed to my bed and position myself in the center with 2 pillows under my hips and spread my legs as far as they will go. I then proceed to call in my husband and tell him I just want him to look at my Vagina...BUT NOT TOUCH. After a few minutes of begging I let him touch anything but my Vagina...After a few more minutes of intense begging and drooling I let him touch only the outside of my Vagina. When it is apparent that he can not endure another moment-only then do I allow him access to the "Inner Sanctum"! If any woman doubts the mesmerizing power and beauty of her Vagina...try the Vagina Salute. It embodies the word "empowerment" and is much less expensive (and WAY more fun) in every regard than surgery.

Love it!

Thanks, Bad Mimi! Great idea. This surely could work with a woman, of course. Or by oneself, with a mirror. Good self pleasure should have anticipation and build up, too!
:)

Thanks for posting this video, women. I had no idea that these surgeries were getting so common. Kudos for getting the word out and encouraging people to not get pieces of their bodies cut off. The education--showing different kinds of vulvas--is invaluable. I, too, had no idea that my vulva was normal, I always thought it was too big. Now I know that that's just in comparison to the porn star look. Keep up the good work!

Why did none of the vulvas shown have a natural amount of pubic hair?
It seems ironic that a video encouraging women to love their vulvas the way they are, still promoted the idea that there is something natural about hairless or partially shaved adult vulva.

And now, YouTube has deleted the video. Censorship seems to be the new "freedom" we are "blessed" with. Why can't some people understand that just because they don't agree with a topic, it is not necessarily "evil"????
